Real Madrid revive interest in Arsenal skipper Vieira

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is set to try again for Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira.

Under pressure to match presidential rival Lorenz Sanz's transfer plans ahead of elections, Perez needs to land a big-name galactico and has revived his bid for Vieira.

AS says Perez asked Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein about the availability of Vieira and Thierry Henry before Euro2004, but was told that neither was for sale.

However, Sanz's growing support could force Perez back into the market for Vieira - particularly with a deal for AS Roma's Emerson now unlikely due to the Brazilian wanting a move to Juventus.
