Real Madrid ready with £150,000-a-week deal for Liverpool's Owen

Liverpool are ready to offer striker Michael Owen a new contract worth £80,000-a-week.

Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parry is in talks with Owen's representatives SFX about the deal.

However, the Daily Star says Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ready to almost double that offer, with a financial package worth £150,000-a-week to bring Owen to Spain next season.

Perez is planning to guarantee next year's presidential election by including the capture of Owen on his running ticket.
