Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague has scooped the headline story in AS on Friday, as the British-based Spanish journalist has announced that Real Madrid are putting the breaks on trying to sign David De Gea this summer.
Instead, Los Blancos are no resigned to landing De Gea next summer, when the Spanish keeper’s contract at Man United expires.
In a categorical statement, Balague announces that De Gea will be United’s keeper for the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
The De Gea deal appears to be dead in the water on a number of fronts: Real Madrid can only afford 25 million euros for the goalie while Man United demand 45 million, Man United view selling De Gea as a sign of weakness they do not wish to endure, while Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla mean Real do have options between the sticks this season.
Looking forward, Guillem Balague claims De Gea should start in goal for Man United this weekend, when they start their league campaign at home to Tottenham.
