Real Madrid push for Arsenal's Cole intensifies

Real Madrid's interest in Arsenal left-back Ashley Cole is gathering pace.
 
A mega offer from Qatar for Roberto Carlos is fueling speculation that Real will cash in on the Brazilian and sign Cole at the end of this season.

The Arsenal defender is currently on the sidelines with a stress fracture of his foot and signed a new contract before the start of the season.

But Real know Cole is unsettled at Highbury and remains disappointed with the Gunners over their pursuit of Chelsea for an illegal approach to him last season.

Real president Florentino Perez regards Cole as the best young left-back on the planet and is reason why he didn't compete with Chelsea for Athletic Bilbao's Asier del Horno last summer.
