Real Madrid president: We decided against Ronaldinho, Eto'o

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists he has no regrets over his transfer policy.

Perez has been slated this week for missing out on Ronaldinho and Sammy Eto'o, who both were influential in Barcelona's 3-0 thumping of Real on Saturday night.

"I do not regret anything and wouldn't change it if I had the chance," Perez told AS. "We have chosen other players. It is difficult to compare Ronaldinho and Zidane, or Eto'o and Ronaldo."

"I am not criticising Eto'o, but when we signed Ronaldo he was the same age and had already won many trophies. Ronaldo is the best player in the world."

Asked about the decision to sign David Beckham last year when he had the chance to land Ronaldinho, Perez added: "You cannot compare them."

"In the position of Ronaldinho we have Zidane."

"It was Barcelona that wanted to sign Beckham, but he did not want to join them."

"I would not change Zidane for Ronaldinho or any galactico."
