Real Madrid president responds to fan demanding Kylian Mbappe’s signing

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remained tight-lipped on the matter of Kylian Mbappe when a fan approached him asking to sign the PSG superstar.

It must be remembered that the conclusion of the entire Mbappe story last summer was partly ignited by a video statement from Real Madrid’s president himself.

In the video, he confidently declared his intention to sign Mbappe, not in the summer that has just passed, but rather in the one following when the player’s contract at PSG was set to expire.

Perez was approached by some fans on Monday night as he left an awards ceremony, he refrained from reiterating his previous stance regarding the French player’s signing.

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, fans rushed towards the president, telling him, “Presi, sign  Mbappe!”, to which he ironically said, “I have never heard that before.”

A month and a half has passed since the summer transfer window and the fate of Mbappe continues to stay loose.

Although he has made peace with Paris Saint-Germain for now, he has not signed any extension with the Ligue 1 champions, setting the stage for a revival of the ongoing drama involving Real Madrid.

Should Mbappe decline to extend his contract by January 1, the door will once again swing open for him to entertain offers from other football clubs.

With his existing contract set to expire on June 30, 2024, and no resolution in sight between him and PSG, the situation remains exactly where it was in the summer.

The upcoming January transfer window is expected to decide the fate of the footballer. It’s evident that Perez is resolute this time around and will settle for nothing less than Mbappe’s written commitment.

Furthermore, one thing is crystal clear – this opportunity stands as the footballer’s final shot at realizing his lifelong dream of joining Real Madrid, a sentiment he has openly expressed on multiple occasions as after that, Madrid may not knock on the doors ever again.
