Real Madrid president Perez always wanted Lopez Caro

Juan Roman Lopez Caro has welcomed Real Madrid's announcement that he will be in charge until the end of this season.
 
Real announced the decision on their website on Monday night after more speculation over Lopez Caro's future had been raised following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Osasuna.

Real president Florentino Perez had planned to give a public vote of confidence to Lopez Caro on Thursday, but the speculation over the coaching position forced the club to issue the media release on Monday.

Perez has always been behind Lopez Caro and never considered bringing in a new coach until the caretaker had been given enough time - believed to be two months - to prove his worth.

Lopez Caro said: "We know that in football the only endorsement is the results and the game. I am delighted and I want to help these players obtain their mission."
