Real Madrid president "calm" about losing Salgado to Chelsea

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists the club will move on if they fail to tie fullback Michel Salgado to a new contract.

"We're calm about it," said Perez. "If what is true in the press about Chelsea's offer, then obviously we cannot match that."

"But I hope he re-signs because he has a great fighting spirit."

Perez also insisted that Real would welcome ex-trainer Vicente del Bosque and former captain Fernando Hierro to the club if they ever wanted to return.

Both men have slammed Real for the way they handled their departures at the end of last season.

But Perez said, "The door of Real Madrid will always be open to them."
