Real Madrid president Calderon hints at likely Capello exit

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon failed to give coach Fabio Capello any sort of ringing endorsement after last night's Champions League elimination at Bayern Munich.

Asked if Capello's future depends on how much they need to pay him in compensation for dismissal, a resigned Calderon said: "The problem is not economic. It is a question if there is value in the people in charge of that area and the trainer also will have to say if he can take the club forward."

"We would only have to pay half his owed wages, although he has never created a problem regarding this. He has never talked about being paid out for the third season. He would be arranged to accept one year's salary if he stops."

"To now bring a trainer in March is not the most suitable solution; to seek a solution for the last three months of the season does not seem the best thing."

"Another thing would be if the possibility existed of contracting a trainer for these three months and the next two years. That, yes, would be good, but it is a question that in any case I do not like."

He added: "It seems to me, as a fan, that the problem is not only the trainer. Perhaps the players also should have something to say."
