Real Madrid president Calderon: Capello unfortunate choice

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon admits he regrets appointing Fabio Capello as coach this season.

"It was an unfortunate choice," Calderon told Reforma. "The fans are not very happy due to some of our disappointing performances."

"Capello had to deal with a club that had won nothing for three years and that was ever going to be easy, but we were unlucky."

Of Capello's successor, Calderon added: "We spoke to Schuster right from when I was only running for the Presidency, but we are keeping an eye on Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho."
