Real Madrid president assures Ronaldo: You're staying

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez made a point of speaking with Ronaldo last Thursday to assure the Brazilian he was part of the club's long-term plans.

Ronaldo has been linked with Manchester United and a return to Inter Milan this month, but AS says Perez spoke with the striker last week and told him: "Be calm. While I am president of Real Madrid you will continue with us. You are very important to this club and we know that you are key to our future sporting plans."

"Ignore the rumours. After the World Cup in Germany there will be no danger of your continuity here. I give my word to you."
