Real Madrid Preparing Appeal Over Cristiano Ronaldo Ban

Real Madrid are to submit an appeal to the Spanish Football Federation's Appeals Committee in relation to the two-match ban received by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo received a straight red card in the weekend win over Malaga for striking Patrick Mtiliga in the face with a trailing arm as he looked to evade the challenge of the Dane and the Competition Committee found him guilty of "dangerous play", warranting a two-game suspension.

Real maintain that Ronaldo's action was not an infringement of rules and was instead a coming together of two players and they are believed to be submitting a video of a similar incident involving Lionel Messi and Marc Valiente from a recent Primera Liga game between Barcelona and Sevilla which resulted in no punishment.
