Real Madrid powerbrokers split over Capello replacement

Real Madrid's powerbrokers are split on who should succeed coach Fabio Capello at the end of this season.
 
DiarioSport says Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic still sees Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as the ideal solution, despite the denials and counter-denials played across the English and Spanish press this week.

Getafe coach Bernd Schuster is Real president Ramon Calderon's choice, though the German has publicly expressed some frustration over the way the issue is being resolved. Meanwhile, Jose Angel Sanchez, the executive director and new force at Real, favours Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Real's players are keeping their distance from the speculation, but are anxious for Capello's successor to be settled. Real management are trying to keep them focused on their title push, but individually, the players know their futures at the club will depend heavily on who is installed for next season.
