Real Madrid playmaker Xabi: We always had control of Barcelona

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso says they were always in control of Barcelona on Saturday night.

Barca have all but conceded the title to Real after the defeat.

A chuffed Xabi declared: "We have shown that Barca is not an unbeatable team. We beat a very solid team and it was one of our most complete games of the season."

"We were really very good at the moment of truth. The key is that we prevented them from getting back when they got it to 1-1 and learned to control them well throughout the match."
