Real Madrid Players Unified In Pepe Support

After suffering a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament which has “completely destroyed” Real Madrid and Portugal star Pepe, Realmadrid.com have opened an official book of condolences for those who wish to send their messages of support to the defender.

First to offer his words of encouragement was club captain Raul, who wrote, "You have our support and love so that you recover as soon as possible," before the entire first team squad chimed in with their own words of sympathy in a move that club officials hope will build a sense of solidarity among the squad.

Goalkeeper Iker Casillas stated Pepe was "a phenomenon as a player and as a person", before assuring him that the "team will fight for you".

Former Liverpool man Xabi Alonso also spoke of Pepe’s influence both on and off the field, saying he is "very important, both as a person as a player", before France striker Karim Benzema, who is thought to be on the periphery of club harmony, confirmed he "has all our love…"

While Real Madrid are already discussing possible replacements, in the meantime this major blow may end up galvanising a team who many claim are still a group of individuals.
