Real Madrid planning to trump Lazio for Zarate

Real Madrid are interested in Lazio striker Mauro Zarate.

The young Argentine is on-loan at Lazio from Qatar's Al Sadd and his brother and agent, Sergio, is due in Rome next week for a new round of talks about the striker's future.

Meanwhile, Real are weighing up making a rival approach to Al Sadd for Zarate, says Marca.

Lazio have first refusal on Zarate until April 2009.
