Real Madrid plan to activate 18-year-old prospect’s €10 million permanent buy option

Real Madrid are said to be keen on executing the purchase clause inserted in the loan agreement for Vinicius Tobias, reports Spanish publication MARCA.

Tobias, 18, moved to Real Madrid in April 2022, arriving on an 18-month loan deal from Shakhtar Donetsk. Since the Spanish capital club had filled all of its non-EU slots, he was moved to the Castilla team instead.

The initial adapting weeks were indeed difficult for the 18-year-old, but the full-back has now grown into one of the best players in the reserve team. In 15 appearances for Castilla this season, he has contributed with three assists.

A fine run of form has now forced the Madrid management to put their heads into turning his temporary stay into a permanent one.

Now, it must be noted that if the operation turns into reality, it is going to cost Real Madrid as much as €10 million. This is the amount Madrid are willing to pay mostly because of his growth trajectory.

As reported by MARCA, if everything goes on track, Tobias will continue with Castilla for another season, with minutes coming with the senior team as well. He will be kept as a contingency plan mostly because the team is insistent on continuing with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez as their primary full-backs for next season as well.

For Tobias, he has earned everyone’s trust, including that of Raul, who has already relayed positive words on the same.

"In these four or five months, he is improving. Offensively he has quality, and is daring more and more. And defensively, when the team has been organised and stronger with the five line, we have helped him for his progression," said the Castilla coach.

"The issue of the decision does not correspond to me, but he is a boy in whom there is improvement. Let’s hope he stays this season and when the decision has to be made, make it the best for him and for the club."

"My intention is to help him, like everyone else, and find his best version and accumulate demanding games," he added.

As of today, the 18-year-old has managed to convince everyone and as the aforementioned source claims, ‘the signing of the full-back is more than a positive operation’ at the moment.
