Real Madrid Plan Sportswear Range

Real Madrid will launch their own brand of sportswear to increase the club's revenue, president Florentino Perez said on Monday.

Los merengues are considering 200 products made in partnership with Adidas, the team's current kit suppliers. "Income for football clubs comes from a variety of streams," Perez said. "In the future, the most important things will be related to marketing."

Perez is looking to English champions Manchester United as an example based on their commercial successes since the 1990's. "Our model is Manchester United in particular and English clubs in general," he said. "They've been involved for more years than anyone else in these marketing activities. We believe there are four lines of business that in the future can generate a lot of money:- Licensed products, franchising shops around the world, the image rights of our players and the image rights of the club. We will pursue all four."
