Real Madrid official denies interest for Totti

Real Madrid's technical director Jorge Valdano on Monday denied published reports in Italy and Spain that the Spanish club is trying to sign AS Roma playmaker Francesco Totti.

Valdano also said he considered unlikely a possible return of Real's Brazilian striker Ronaldo to Inter Milan.

In an interview with the Italian radio station Kiss Kiss, Valdano said "I have never been in talks with Totti and more than that Real never made a bid for him."

Valdano said Totti was talented "but Real already has important players in his role."

Real's stellar lineup includes Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Figo and Ronaldo.

About the Brazilian, who joined Real from Inter Milan in August 2002, Valdano said, "Ronaldo is happy with Real and I believe it would be difficult for him to leave and return to Inter."

"He has excellent relations with Inter's (former) president (Massimo) Moratti, but I believe this is not enough to upset his professional life again."

The Brazilian star left Inter citing his bad relations with Argentine coach Hector Cuper, later dismissed and replaced by Alberto Zaccheroni.
