Real Madrid offer Portillo to Lazio for Stam

Real Madrid are ready to offer cash plus Javier Portillo to Lazio for defender Jaap Stam.

The Dutchman has become Real president Florentino Perez's new summer target after his team's defensive frailties were painfully exposed against Juventus this week.

It's understood Real are willing to offer Lazio £6.75 million plus the season-long loan of Portillo for Stam.

Lazio have so far refused to discuss the deal and will wait until knowing if they will be playing in next season's Champions League before considering Real's proposal.
