Real Madrid offer Man Utd Figo for Beckham

Real Madrid are set to offer Manchester United Luis Figo in exchange for midfielder David Beckham.

The Telegraph says Real will end Barcelona's interest in Beckham by offering Figo, plus a cash payment, for the England skipper.

Madrid only began work on the Beckham package after their Champions League hopes ended when they were beaten by Juventus in the semi-finals.

Figo is believed to be open to the move as he has a good relationship with United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz.

A player exchange, plus an undisclosed sum to compensate for the 2.5-year disparity in the players' ages, is set to be offered to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
