Real Madrid make offer for Parma star Gilardino

Real Madrid have contacted Parma about young striker Alberto Gilardino.

The youngster's omission from Italy's Euro2004 has created controversy and he is expected to be cashed in by Parma over the summer with the Serie A club heavily in debt.

Real have faxed Parma a £10 million bid for Gilardino, though an offer of £14 million is on the table from Juventus.

Manchester United have also been scouting the striker this season, who has emerged as one of the hottest new talents in Italy this term.
