Real Madrid make January transfer decision despite midfield concerns

Real Madrid are not planning to make any signings during the January transfer window, with the club convinced that Jose Mourinho has enough quality in his squad to compete for major honours, according to a report from AS.
Despite speculation that the Spanish giants could strengthen their midfield and address other areas of concern, the current position at the club is that no incoming transfers are necessary.
This is because the board believes the existing group can end Real Madrid’s trophy drought and deliver success without further investment in the winter market.
Reports of an urgent need to reinforce Mourinho’s options, particularly in midfield, have circulated in recent weeks.
However, that need has not translated into concrete transfer activity at Valdebebas, and part of this decision can be attributed to the recent upturn in form of Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga.
The club’s confidence has also been reinforced by the team’s performance at the Camp Nou, where the team beat Barcelona 2-1.
Hence, Real Madrid believe the squad has demonstrated enough quality to compete, leaving the management with little appetite for January additions.
Departures have not been completely ruled out, although any potential exit would depend on a player expressing a desire to leave and Mourinho giving his approval.
At present, however, such a scenario is considered unlikely.
While Real Madrid are not preparing to recruit in January, questions remain about the futures of players for whom Real Madrid have retained future control.
Speculation has linked Jacobo Ramon and Nico Paz with possible returns, either next summer or during the January 2027 transfer window.
However, the board has yet to decide which players it wants to bring back through its existing options.
As reported before, those decisions are expected to be postponed until next spring, when Real Madrid can assess their development and the first-team squad’s requirements.
The decision to avoid January spending does not mean Real Madrid intend to keep the squad unchanged indefinitely.
Rather, the coming months will be important in understanding the roles of several players, with performances potentially influencing the club’s plans for the next campaign.
Hence, once the summer transfer window arrives, significant changes could follow, similar to the restructuring that took place last summer.
