Real Madrid make Eden Hazard transfer decision as Chelsea contract talks stall

Chelsea star Eden Hazard is back on Real Madrid’s transfer wish-list ahead of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The Belgian has been continuously linked with a move to Real Madrid this season and speculation first came to light after the star admitted he wanted to join Los Blancos after the World Cup.

"I will tell you the truth. After the World Cup I wanted to leave, my dream is to play in Spain," Hazard told BT Sport’s Des Kelly back in September.

"Then I talked with the board here and the manager and I said: ‘Okay, you don’t want me to leave. I can stay no problem.’"

"Now I’m with Chelsea, I’ve got two years contract left, I can sign a new deal, maybe not, I don’t know."

The picture has since changed as Hazard enters the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

With Maurizio Sarri’s long-term future still uncertain, Hazard does not want to waste anymore time in his career.

According to the Evening Standard, Real Madrid have now put Hazard top of their shopping list this summer ahead of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Florentino Perez has paid the price for failing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Juventus last summer.

With Barcelona nine points clear in La Liga and having beat their El Clasico rivals in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid only have the Champions League to play for.

Chelsea’s hand maybe forced by the fact they could lose Hazard on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, something they simply can’t afford to do.

Financially, a move for the 28-year-old makes sense for Real Madrid knowing that it would take a huge fee to prise either Neymar or Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea though are not giving up hope they can convince the winger to stay in west London.
