Spanish daily Marca confirmed today that the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Appeal Committee had ruled against the Blancos.
The three members of the committee, Joseph Matthew Diaz, Pedro Garcia Perez and Francisco Rubio Sanchez dismissed Real Madrid’s request to have the red card rescinded and confirmed the decision would be upheld.
The case stems from an incident during last week’s match between Real and Malaga at the Bernabeu, when Ronaldo was shown a straight red card for swinging an elbow at Patrick Mtiliga. The clash left the Malaga man with a broken nose.
'CR9' has maintained all week that there was absolutely no intent to injure the player and that he was simply trying to break away from the defender, who was pulling him back.
Los Blancos will now have to take their arguments to Spain's Sporting Disciplinary Committee (CEDD) if they wish to pursue the case further.
