Real Madrid line up Lazio coach Mancini

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is set to stun the Serie A transfer market again.

But this time it isn't a new galactico he's after, instead Lazio trainer Roberto Mancini is being lined up for a shock move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Perez has reportedly fallen out with trainer Carlos Queiroz, who launched a stinging attack on the management of Real over the weekend.

Rather than stick with the ex-Manchester United assistant manager, Perez is keen to prise Mancini away from Lazio.

Real technical staff have been impressed by the way Mancini has managed Lazio through its financial crisis, maintaining the club's star players, while also beginning plans to overhaul the club's youth set-up.

Perez believes the young Italian coach would be a big hit with Real fans around the world and has penciled him in at the top of his list of names to replace Queiroz at the end of the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also in the running, though his poor European record is working against him.
