Real Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez passes AC Milan medical ahead of £17m move on five-year deal

Theo Hernandez has passed his medical at AC Milan and is set for a £17million transfer from Real Madrid.

The Spanish defender moved to the Bernabeu from rivals Atletico Madrid two years ago for £26m but failed to establish himself as Marcelo nailed down the spot at left-back.

Zinedine Zidane is looking to raise the necessary £150m to fund a move for Paul Pogba and Hernandez's departure will help in that regard.

Marca report that Hernandez passed his medical in Milan and will join the Serie A side on a five-year deal.

He only started five matches for Real in his first season with the club before going out on loan with Real Sociedad last term. 

The arrival of Ferland Mendy for £49m all but confirmed Hernandez was not part of Zidane's plans for the upcoming campaign.

If Hernandez signs on the dotted line in Milan as anticipated, they will have seen off interest from both Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli.

It was originally reported that the 21-year-old defender would be joining on another loan deal with the option to buy.

But as Real are eager to raise funds as quickly as possible, they have sanctioned a sale for £17m.
