Real Madrid kid Javi flattered by Man Utd interest

Real Madrid whiz-kid Javier Garcia admits he was stunned to be called up for yesterday's clash with Deportivo La Coruna.

The teenager has only just recovered from an early season injury and was preparing to turn out for the club's 'B' team before senior coach Mariano Garcia Remon approached him about joining the senior squad.

"I had been two weeks injured and in the last days Garcia Remón asked me about my physical state, but what I never hoped for was to enter the call for the senior team," said Garcia.

The midfielder was the subject of an offer from Manchester United over the summer, but he said on Saturday night: "It was an attractive offer. But my dream has always been to play for Real Madrid. There's no place better in the world."
