Real Madrid, Juventus alerted as Arsenal ponder Vieira sale

Arsenal are prepared to put skipper Patrick Vieira up for sale if he fails to sign a new contract.

The French international midfielder's current deal runs out in 2004 and Arsenal does not want to see him leave Highbury on a Bosman.

Vieira's representatives have been in negotiations over a new deal since the end of last season, but indications are that the two parties are still no closer to finding a solution.

The Sunday Mirror says Vieira will be transfer-listed if decides against inking a new contract.

The Frenchman recently said he would never consider a move to another Premiership club.

If he does become available, Juventus and Real Madrid are expected to go head-to-head for his services.
