Real Madrid join race for Arsenal's Edu

Real Madrid have joined the race for Arsenal contract rebel Edu.

The Brazilian international is refusing to sign a new deal with the Gunners and manager Arsene Wenger has admitted fears he could lose the stylish playmaker.

Real sports chief Emilio Butragueno has penciled Edu's name at the top of his shopping list, well aware he can approach the midfielder from January about securing his name to a pre-contract for next season.

Barcelona are also chasing Edu along with Manchester United, where manager Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to make a double-your-money offer to the Brazilian to keep him in England.
