Real Madrid in Van Nistelrooy contract talks

Real Madrid have opened new contract talks with star striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutchman's current deal expires in June and he could commit to a new club in January if Real fail to tie him down.

Marca says Real directors don't want a repeat of the David Beckham fiasco after the England midfielder signed for LA Galaxy as they dithered over offering him new terms.

Real are in talks with Van Nistelrooy about a new 12-month contract extension.
