Real Madrid in talks for River Plate's Belluschi

Real Madrid are closing in on River Plate midfielder Fernando Belluschi.
 
Real director Franco Baldini is currently in Argentina for talks over several transfer targets, including Belluschi and Boca Juniors youngster Fernando Gago.

Boca president Mauricio Macri has slapped an £18 million price-tag on Gago, which Real won't consider meeting. Baldini has informed intermediaries that Real won't enter serious negotiations with Boca for Gago until they drop their asking price.

However, Baldini has enjoyed better progress with River over Belluschi, who is being made available for £6 million.

Cash-strapped River have put Belluschi up for sale and his versatility, he can play in midfield and wide-right, is attractive to Real, which are struggling to cover the absence of injured pair Cicinho and Michel Salgado.
