Real Madrid in advanced negotiations for Benfica star Di Maria

Real Madrid are set to land exciting Benfica winger Angel di Maria.

The Argentina international came close to joining both Arsenal and Manchester United last year, while Chelsea made a move for the midfielder at the end of last season.

However, Diario de Noticias says Di Maria is on his way to Real in the summer for £16 million.

Jorge Mendes' management company, Gestifute, have bought 10 per cent of the player's registration from Benfica and sources close to the Portuguese organisation say a deal with Real "is almost concluded".

Mendes also placed Brazilian Alipio at Real earlier this month after 'housing' the youngster at Portugal's Rio Ave.
