Real Madrid have no plans to sell 23-year-old midfielder in January

Eduardo Camavinga is not expected to leave Real Madrid during the January transfer window, despite earlier doubts about this future, according to Bernabeu Digital.
As per the outlet, manager Jose Mourinho wants to retain the French midfielder until at least the end of the season, keeping another option available as Real Madrid prepare for a demanding second half of the campaign.
The stance offers some clarity over Camavinga’s immediate future, which has come under scrutiny because of his limited playing time.
Although his place in the midfield hierarchy has weakened, Mourinho is not understood to be considering an early departure for the 23-year-old.
Camavinga’s reduced role had fuelled speculation about whether he could seek a move elsewhere in search of more regular football.
A player who had previously featured prominently in midfield found opportunities harder to secure, with competition for places and the coaching staff’s decisions affecting his involvement.
However, Mourinho would prefer to keep the Frenchman in the squad rather than lose him midway through the season and his position has been reinforced after the Frenchman’s strong performance in recent weeks.
However, with several competitions still to contest, Real Madrid could benefit from maintaining their available options instead of weakening their midfield depth during the winter window.
The immediate task for Camavinga is to make the most of whatever opportunities come his way.
After his strong performance against Barcelona, he now has the momentum to build on, and Mourinho will hope his midfielder finds his old touch.
The midfielder will need to demonstrate that he can meet the manager’s tactical requirements and compete effectively for a place in a crowded midfield.
Nevertheless, staying at Real Madrid should not be confused with a guarantee of increased minutes, as Mourinho’s preference to retain him and his willingness to select him regularly are separate issues.
According to the report, Real Madrid’s current intention is to avoid a January departure and leave any broader assessment of Camavinga’s future until the campaign concludes, unless circumstances change unexpectedly.
That gives the French international time to improve his position without forcing the club into a mid-season decision.
Notably, it will also allow Mourinho to preserve squad depth while balancing the demands of the remaining fixtures.
