Two of Real Madrid’s new signings caught the attention of the Spanish media in the pre-season – Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler.
Strangely enough, the duo’s starts to the new season could not be more contrasting.
Bellingham has gone on to become the star of Santiago Bernabeu and is scoring goals for fun for the club across competitions. Guler, meanwhile, is yet to make his debut as he constantly battles fitness setbacks.
The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the young Turkish phenom and his situation in Madrid.
According to the Italian journalist, Real Madrid have 100% faith in Guler’s abilities and believe that he has a lot to add to the team. His injuries do not change his image at the club.
Further, there is optimism over the youngster’s return to action and debut for the Merengues. Romano states that he will be back in training in two weeks.
Real Madrid will not rush with him, but he could well be available after the international break.
Guler made ripples in the media after his splendid performances in training for Real Madrid which was said to have left the coaching staff in awe. Yet, his talent was never in doubt.
The 18-year-old was spectacular for Fenerbahce last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in just 11 starts in the Turkish Super Lig. Further, he averaged two key passes per game and created seven big chances.
Last month, reports emerged that Toni Kroos was personally mentoring the youngster in training.
This comes after rumours of Modric considering him as his direct successor at the club, and it is safe to say that both incidents speak volumes of his talent.
With the player recuperating from injury, Carlo Ancelotti will ensure his incorporation is slow and gradual. Yet, one can remain sure that the youngster will light fireworks once in full flow.
