Real Madrid GM wants Meija to stay

Real Madrid general manager Arrigo Sacchi has told defender Alvaro Meija that he wants him to stay.

Meija, who came through Real's youth system, is desperate for regular first team football to kickstart his career, but Sacchi has held talks with the young centre-half about sticking it out at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Celta Vigo, Real Zaragoza, Real Mallorca and Getafe are all ready to take Meija on-loan this season, but Sacchi is hopeful he'll choose to stay and fight for his place.
