Real Madrid GM Valdano: Ronaldo now knows how to handle Spanish refs

Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano was delighted with Cristiano Ronaldo's double in their victory over Xerez.

It marked Ronaldo's comeback game after being suspended for two matches.

"Cristiano has made an effort at restraint, as he has suffered from many fouls in which the referee chose to play advantage and so he has contained his anger," said Valdano.

"He is beginning to understand how the championship and referees are in Spain.

"When you're dealing with a clever player, you only need to tell him once."
