Real Madrid GM Sacchi: Luxemburgo better than any galactico signing

Real Madrid GM Arrigo Sacchi says the club's recent management restructure is more beneficial to the team than any single player signing.

Since Sacchi's arrival before Christmas, Emilio Butragueno has become Real vice-president and Vanderlei Luxemburgo has been appointed as head coach.

"It is clear that we have a great group of players of individual quality, but they lack collective quality," said Sacchi, "and the signing of a player will not fix this, but the signing of a trainer, who we now have, and a sports director can make a difference."

"Together, the management wants to make a team of great quality with great players."

On Luxemburgo's 100 per cent record from his first two games in charge, Sacchi added: "Seven days is too short a time for a coach to make a difference. But we have seen a change in the players and I hope this continues for the rest of the season."

"A coach is useless if the players do not display the right attitude."
