Real Madrid GM insists no Newcastle approach for Owen

Real Madrid general manager Arrigo Sacchi has denied weekend reports that Newcastle United have approached them to take striker Michael Owen on-loan.

Sacchi told Sky Sports: "The contact with Newcastle was only about Morientes and never for Owen or any other player."

He added: "At this moment Owen is a very important player for us and the coach does not want the exit of any other players."

"Owen is happy and he is more settled in Madrid."

Newcastle are now being linked with a £10 million bid to bring Owen back to England before the end of this month.
