Real Madrid fullback Arbeloa accepts World Cup omission

Real Madrid fullback Alvaro Arbeloa has accepted his World Cup omission.

Arbeloa was part of the Spain sides that have won back-to-back European Championships and the World Cup in the last six years, but the experienced full-back will not be going to Brazil this summer after being left out by coach Vicente del Bosque.

He tweeted: "Thanks a lot for all your messages of support! It's the end of a superb era for me and all I have left to do now is wish all the luck in the world to the Spain squad and my teammates."
