Real Madrid, Fulham head queue as Milan prepare Shevchenko sale

Fulham and Real Madrid are chasing AC Milan striker Andrei Shevchenko.

According to Italian press reports, the Ukrainian will be made available in the summer with trainer Carlo Ancelotti deciding he is too similar to first-choice striker Pippo Inzaghi to be a first team regular.

Real are monitoring the situation closely, having tried unsuccessfully to sign Shevchenko 18 months ago.

A partnership of Shevchenko and Ronaldo is proving difficult to resist for Real's ambitious board, despite the emergence of Javier Portillo.

Fulham are leading the English charge, with owner Mohamed Al Fayed reportedly preparing a big offer for the former Dynamo Kiev ace.

Al Fayed has said this season that Fulham must reign in their costs, but with Steve Marlet likely to leave in the summer, speculation persists that the multi-millionaire will look to replace the Frenchman with Shevchenko.
