Real Madrid favourites as Ajax confirm Chivu sale

Ajax Amsterdam have reportedly announced to its shareholders that Christian Chivu will be sold at the end of this season.

Dutch press reports yesterday stated that Ajax chairman Arie van Eijden announced the transfer of the Romanian to shareholders and indicated that Real Madrid were his most likely buyers.

Juventus are also keen to land the 22 year-old, but Real have been tracking the Ajax wing-back for over 18 months and he remains a priority target for sports chief Jorge Valdano.
