Real Madrid fans massively prefer Kylian Mbappe to Gareth Bale
Spanish paper AS have been conducting a series of polls recently canvassing Real Madrid fans for their thoughts on AS Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe.
Spanish paper AS have been conducting a series of polls recently canvassing Real Madrid fans for their thoughts on AS Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe.
It’s still far from clear whether Real will manage to secure a deal for the 18-year-old French attacker this summer, and if it happens the amount of money Madrid will have to pay will be enormous.
Monaco are thought to be demanding more than 135 million euros for the teenager, which would be a new world record fee.
Should Mbappe join Los Blancos, many predict that one of the BBC will be shifted out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
That’s seen plenty of fans turn on Gareth Bale.
A few weeks back, as rumours started up once agin linking Bale with a move to Man United, AS ran a poll asking readers to vote on which member of the BBC should make way for the Mbappe.
At the time Cristiano Ronaldo’s future was in doubt amid his tax problems in Spain.
In the poll, 42.63% of voters called for Bale to be sold if Mbappe arrives, while 24.65% voted for Cristiano Ronaldo, 20.46% thought no one should be sold while only 12.25% of people believed Karim Benzema should be shunted out the club.
That clearly showed how Bale, who has suffered 17 injuries in Madrid since his arrival at the club back in 2013, is the fan’s favourite to be pushed out the exit door if Mbappe is signed.
This week AS have run another poll on the same theme, asking readers who would they prefer: Bale or Mbappe?
The results have now been published after 68,078 people voted.
According to AS, 75% of their audience voted for Mbappe, leaving just 25% supporting Bale.
That’s a huge number of Real Madrid fans, who would rather gamble on the youngster rather than back Bale who has proven himself for years already.
Looking at the bigger picture, French paper Journal du Dimanche claimed on Sunday that Monaco are ready to open their chequebook to try and keep the 18-year-old at the club.
JDD reported that Monaco have offered Mbappe a 900% pay rise in bid to keep him.
But will Monaco’s offer prove successful? That’s up for debate, as six of the biggest clubs in Europe are chasing Mbappe.
Spanish paper El Pais have surveyed the scene on Monday, reporting that Real Madrid, Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG are all trying to sign the centre-forward.
It’s claimed that Mbappe’s representative have not rejected a single approach as they plan to listen to all the offers.
Moreover, while many have discussed how a move for Mbappe may impact his playing time in 2017-18, El Pais announced that the player’s representatives have shied away from making any demands or minimum guarantees should Mbappe switch clubs.
