Real Madrid fans don’t want Juventus man

A survey revealed that a majority of Real Madrid fans feel a move for Paul Pogba would be an unnecessary purchase.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba may secure a move to Real Madrid this summer but it seems that many Los Blancos fans are not overjoyed at the prospect.

Having clinched their 11th Champions League title, Real look to have eyed the Frenchman as this year’s Galactico signing, with current boss Zinedine Zidane reportedly keen for the club to bring the midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, it seems that fans of the club are not quite so keen, with a survey conducted by AS.com revealing that a majority of Real Madrid supporters are against a move for the French international.

In response to the question: “Can the arrival of Paul Pogba improve Real Madrid?”, a surprising 62 percent of people responded no, with only 38 percent saying yes.

This is likely not a debate about the 23-year-old’s ability, more a question of whether it would be worth the astronomical figure to bring Pogba into a squad already stacked with talent in midfield.

Given his defensive responsibility and the affection given to him by the coach and the fans, Casemiro could not be replaced by the Frenchman, whilst Luka Modric is unanimously considered indispensable by the club.

That would leave Pogba to fight it out with highly-rated Toni Kroos, Isco and James Rodriguez for the last spot in central midfield, that is if one or more of the aforementioned trio do not find themselves away from Madrid come the end of the summer.

Furthermore, with Pogba set to cost Los Blancos a world-record figure in the region of €120 million, there is an understandable skepticism about the merits of a deal for the Frenchman.

Pogba will keep his focus for now on business with the national side, who are looking for a European Championship victory on home soil.
