Real Madrid are eyeing Porto defender Nicolas Otamendi.

The young Argentine has been a long-term target for Real, which now see the centre-half as a potential successor for the injury-plagued Ricardo Carvalho.

Otamendi, 24, has been followed by Real football chiefs since he was first breaking through at Velez Sarsfield.
