Real Madrid Euro failure cost Man Utd £850,000

Manchester United missed out on almost £1 million thanks to Real Madrid's failure in the Champions League this season.
 
The Daily Express says Real Madrid's exit at the same stage cost United £850,000. A large slice of the fee Real paid for David Beckham is conditional on their success in the Champions League.

Two payments each season, totalling £1.7m, depend firstly on Real qualifying for the Champions League, and then reaching the quarter-finals. They didn't this season, going out in extra time to Juventus. And a whopping £850,000 was lost by United.
