Real Madrid encouraged over Everton ace Rooney

The agents of Everton striker Wayne Rooney have made contact with Real Madrid.

Marca says Rooney is closer to becoming Real's next big galactico signing after his agent spoke with Real Madrid and informed them that he would be interested in moving to Spain.

Rooney is still to commit to a new, long-term contract at Everton and even if he does re-sign will insist on an affordable buy-out clause.

Manchester United are also reviving their interest in Rooney after an early season injury suffered by Ruud van Nistelrooy.
