Real Madrid discussed Gago sale

Real Madrid directors have discussed selling young Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago to balance the books.

El Mundo Deportivo says Real chiefs are eager to raise some money by at least one significant sale after splashing out over £80 million this summer on new signings.

Prime candidate to leave is Julio Baptista, who is up for sale at £10 million. However, Gago's name was also discussed over the weekend, though president Ramon Calderon is reluctant to see the youngster sold as he believes the midfielder still has a big future in Madrid.
