Real Madrid demand Valencia pay fee for Helguera

Real Madrid are insisting Valencia pay a fee for defender Ivan Helguera.

New Real coach Bernd Schuster has told management he isn't counting on Helguera for the coming season and the player's agent has already held talks about a free transfer.

However, Real are demanding a fee for the Spain international.

Helguera's agent, Gines Carvajal, said: "Madrid knows our intentions and I hope that they take care of the desire of Ivan, who has given everything for that organization in the years he has been there."
