Quirante says that today’s training will be a pivotal moment for Alaba and how he feels during the sessions could dictate his availability to face Osasuna.
It must be remembered that Alaba was forced off the field in the 40th minute during Real Madrid’s home game against Las Palmas.
Lucas Vazquez stepped onto the field after it seemed that the Real Madrid centre-back had encountered a muscle injury.
The Austrian defender went on to miss his side’s trip to Girona in the league and Napoli in the UEFA Champions League and his return to the field is only depended on how he feels during the upcoming training sessions.
As it turns out, the 31-year-old had actually picked a groin injury that forced him out of the recent matches.
Initially, there was hope that the Austrian player might make a comeback and join the squad for their trip to Italy, however, in the end, he decided to remain in the Spanish capital after all.
Alaba has dedicatedly devoted his time to individual training, not only yesterday but also during the entire team’s stay in Naples.
So far, the Austrian has showcased his exceptional work ethic by putting in a solid effort on the training ground as his only goal is to mark a return ahead of the Osasuna clash.
Hence, it’s safe to say that although Alaba is racing against time, the commitment is worth mentioning.
In the meantime, as he continues his road to recovery, Nacho Fernandez has partnererd Antonio Rugider in the heart of Real Madrid’s defence.
Furthermore, given the shortage of defenders, Alvaro Carrillo, a player from the youth setup, was called in the travelling contingent against Girona and Napoli.
If Alaba is to miss the weekend’s clash, the youngster can expect another call and could even get some minutes, especially considering that Nacho is suspended.
